Red Hot

It's hard to believe it's almost the end of September and I've been working on this blog post for almost 3 weeks. These past few weeks Moving Designz has undergone a total transformation as we head into fall. Merchandise from the summer buying trip has been arriving daily. And each time we unpack and merchandise the store more and more red is being added. We've all been busy unpacking, pricing and restocking the sales floor. New furniture, new accessories and new displays are now set up and we are adding more daily. Today I thought we'd look at rooms accented in red.

This stunning picture inspired me to write todays blog post. Bold and beautiful... RED! I imagine this table setting as the perfect place to enjoy a fall wedding dinner.

Great streamlined space finished in tones of mocha, sand with a couple of red chairs for a splash of colour. This colour combination works wonderfully with red.

Another example of using a couple of red chairs for that hit of colour.

A very comtemporary space with luscious red leather seating.

Red, white and chocolate. The red toss cushions really add life and drama to these rooms.

Red wallpaper for the focal walls, love it. Two entirely different looks.

A close up of the above room. At the moment I am loving the cane chairs. I guess I still have some shopping to do. This stunning room is the work of Vanessa De Vargas. See more of her beautifully designed rooms and spaces here www.turquoise-la.com

Fantastically modern and graphic wallpaper.

Cottage style. I love that they painted out the rattan furniture in red.

The following are out of the pages of Canadian House and Home magazine.

Pretty blossom fabric.

This was the summer bedroom at the store. Bright cherry red sailcloth duvet covers mixed with yellow and green. I think we still have one of these duvet covers left in stock.

This is the fall bedroom at Moving Designz. The artwork features lovely red coral prints. The bedding is our new line of Vintage Velvet. Available in Red, Chocolate, Yellow and Sapphire Blue. We created the headboard using our instant faux leather tiles. Just peel and stick.

A couple of very cheery bedrooms with red accents.

If you're feeling really dramatic how about some red curtain panels?

One of our new white leather club chairs at the store that has been merchandised with our fall line of cozy red throw blankets.

Love this seating area and that chair.

Dining areas next. The drum shade in red is a fun funky touch to this very retro space. I love drum shade pendants and have ordered 3 new styles for the store.

Here's an eating island from Sarah Richardson Design featuring an easy to make bulleton board covered in the cheery red print and counter stools finished in red leather.

From Moving Designz these are the counter and bar height stools we carry.

A banquette area of red, white and black. Lots of hits of red in this room.

This is our diningroom area at the store accented with red accessories. Notice the stack of damask patterned dishes. At $9.50 each they are a steal compared with the Hermes plates as pictured below which sell for 10 times the price.

Pretty red printed pillows on this heavenly bed overlooking the ocean.

In the store our fall display of beautiful green and red bamboo bowls.

And lastly but certainly not least one of the pretty new fall handbags from Moving Designz. Made from 100% organic cotton these bags feature a pretty leaf motif and are enviromentally friendly.

To Dine For...

For today's post I thought we'd look at some amazing diningrooms and eating areas. As you will see by the photographs anythings goes depending on the style of your house. When considering new diningroom furniture take into account the size and shape of your room. Some rooms are naturally suited to round tables while others need square tables. It's always nice to pick a table that can be expanded to a larger size. For seating, upholstered Parson style chairs are still very popular due to the comfort factor. I have them in my house and find them so comfortable to sit on there is no rush to leave the dinner table and if you're entertaining that's a good thing.

Along with diningroom tables and chairs another important thing to consider is your diningroom lighting. In these images ypu will see many different options for lighting. Enjoy!

My inspiration picture. Wow, who wouldn't want to come to dinner? The view, the comfy slipcovered chairs and lots of candle light. I think the quirky numbered pillows are a fun touch. I love it!
